One Punch Man
One Punch Man is one of my favorite animes of all time. There is a recurring theme in the show where Saitama, the protagonist, is confronted with a random and seemingly insurmountable enemy. He is able to effortlessly exterminate them with a single punch. Despite his overwhelming power, he never considers himself a pro. He says that being a superhero is his hobby. Perhaps that is a hint into the mindset of all legends.
What makes this character so inspirational is not his overwhelming power, but his dedication toward his craft. He had attained his strength through a rigorous training regimen which consisted of 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run per day. He had trained so hard that he went bald.
While it is not advisable to train to the detriment of one’s health, it is without question that real work is necessary to achieve anything great, whether it is being an artist, an athlete, a superhero, or a programmer. Saitama is not motivated by money or fame. His only dream is to one day meet a worthy opponent. Facing real challenges proportional to one’s strength is the only true way to feel alive.
My friend recently started a freelance business selling art. I ordered this drawing of One Punch Man. Happy with the results! Here is the link to my friend’s business:
