New Year’s Resolution 2015
My New Year’s Resolution is to blog at least once a day once a week for the year.
I’ve decided to start blogging again for a few reasons.
There is so much random knowledge that you gain over time, that there is no way to actually remember it all. Blogging allows me to externalize that knowledge into writing. I’ve found that this helps to free up my mind to focus on more important things.
According to some articles I read online, blogging is supposed to be good marketing for software developers. Apparently, this is supposed to improve my credibility and perceived value.
Writing helps improve the ability to organize thoughts and present them in a clear and easy to understand format. As they say, the best way to master something is to teach it.
I have a confession. I had a blog in 2011, but I took it down out of fear. I was afraid it would make me look like a newb. I was afraid of saying the wrong thing and looking stupid. I’m doing this to get over the fear.
Update 1/13/2015 – I’ve reduced frequency to at least once a week. I’ve found that it’s too unsustainable to write one post per day. I run out of ideas too quickly and its too difficult to maintain a decent level of quality. I’ll continue to write “quick tip” type posts as they come up, but I’ll try to do a more detailed one each week.
